Tandoori murg, it is the same as I have shown you in grill chicken in tandoori masala, I have used ready made tandoori masala, but I have taken medium size thigh and breast pieces, which are juicy and succulent. In this recipe the difference is I have cooked the chicken pieces in the oven not in the grill pan to get that char grill colour and taste. There are slight changes in the ingredients like I have used Kashmir chilli powder to get the colour. You can always prefer any method or spices you like.

Ingredients
  • Chicken – 350 to 400 gms
  • Marinade
  • Ginger and garlic paste – 2tsp
  • Kashmir chilli powder – 11/2tsp
  • Tandoori masala (ready made) – 11/2tbsp to 2tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4th tsp
  • Curd (thick) – 4tbsp to 5tbsp
  • Lemon juice – 2tsp
  • Salt – as per taste
Method
    Marinate
  • Mix all the marinate ingredients in a bowl, it should be thick like custard consistency or can directly add to the chicken pieces.
  • Mix well on chicken pieces all over and marinate it for 3hrs to 24hrs, overnight is good.
  • When you take out from the fridge, you should not mix it, as it is set in the fridge, keep outside coming to room temperature, for 30 min, and then start cooking.
  • Apply salt carefully, as in the tandoori masala also contains salt.
  • Cooking the chicken in the oven
  • Cover the oven tray with aluminium foil, grease it with little oil and keep it ready.
  • Place the marinated chicken pieces on the tray and keep it ready.
  • Preheat the oven for 10min 220c, place the oven tray in the upper part of oven.
  • Cook the chicken 10min each side.
  • When the chicken is cooked on both sides, take out the tray, and apply butter or oil on top and keep it in the oven for 160c for 5min.
  • Turn it and apply butter or oil the other side and cook it, till it is cooked well. Do not overcook the chicken, otherwise it will get dry. Check it in between.
  • Or
  • At this stage, either you can continue to cook in the oven after applying butter or oil on both sides for 5 to 8min, till charred colour comes on it or it is cooked well.
Notes
  • Cook the chicken according to your oven temperature or instructions.
  • Check the marinade then apply on chicken, whether it is spicy or salt is there or not.
  • You can add your own spices and marinade it. Add thick curd, you can increase or decrease the spices of your taste.
  • If tandoori masala is not available, can use other marinate from my recipes, and follow the same cooking procedure.
